Allison Fitzgerald Receives $10,000 -- and appears in the New York Times
Allison Fitzgerald of LIM College was one of only eight students from colleges and universities throughout the nation to be selected as a finalist in the 2011 FSF Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards competition. As a finalist, Allison will receive a $10,000 scholarship towards her senior year. This represents the first time that an LIM College student has reached the finalist level in the prestigious annual program.
Two other LIM College students, Quin Acciani and Alexis Michaelides, also received $5,000 scholarships during the YMA Geoffrey Beene Fashion Scholarship Fund Awards Dinner on January 11 at the Waldorf Astoria. The event raised more than $2 million for fashion-related scholarships, and industry leaders Jeff Kantor, President of Merchandising at Macy's.com, and Emanuel Manny Chirico, Chairman and CEO of Phillips-Van Heusen, were among those honored.

In addition to the scholarship funds, the three students will receive internship placements at top companies, where they will be matched with an executive mentor who will guide and assist them in networking with industry contacts.
LIM College is one of only 34 educational institutions selected to participate in the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund competition. Other participating schools include Barnard College, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and the University of Virginia.
The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) is a national non-profit association consisting of influential members of the fashion community, dedicated to promoting education of the fashion arts and business by granting scholarships to talented students and facilitating internships, mentorships and career programs. FSFs goal is to advance the fashion industry by encouraging Gifted and enterprising young people to pursue careers in design, merchandising, retailing and business so the industry will continue to attract dedicated, capable and creative individuals.
