Counsels LIM College Graduates on Lessons for Success
Mindy Grossman, Chief Executive Officer of HSN, Inc., shared with the 2010 graduates of LIM College her lessons for career success in her keynote address at the Colleges 71st annual Commencement exercises on May 27 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in Manhattan.
Why do some people have the courage to take a plunge, to defy convention and why are there others who do not and perhaps never really know where life could have taken them? I think it comes down to two things purpose and passion. Believing in yourself enough that you are willing to sacrifice the lure of short term security for the unknown and having both the passion and intellectual curiosity to see what else life can offer, said Ms. Grossman.
Ms. Grossman was also presented with LIM Colleges Distinguished Achievement Award and an honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree at the ceremony, during which approximately 300 LIM College students, including the first class of 11 MBA graduates, received degrees. Sara Molinaro was the Valedictorian of the undergraduate Class of 2010.
LIM College President Elizabeth S. Marcuse told the graduates, With all the new opportunity that technology and globalization bring, there are some universal human values that never change. Personal connections are what make life truly meaningful. Maintaining ties with the people around you may be facilitated by new technologies, but they will never render human communication obsolete. No matter where technology takes us, it will take well-educated, creative and passionate people to lead the fashion business into the future.
